Thanksgiving
I had a good
thanksgiving break. I ate a lot of food. I saw my cousins. I saw my
grandparents. I saw a horror movie. I cleaned my room. My brother had friends
over. I played games with him and his friends. I got some cookies. I got a
haircut.
Thesis blog
Lord of the flies
has tons of allusions. Some allusions are almost ripping the source material.
They are still all really clever. A lot of the allusions make me think this was
almost a gritty reboot of a certain. Other allusions date all the way back to Greek
fables. Simon's death references angels. The lord of the flies is like the
devil.

lotf review
It's a pretty good
book for what it is. It's not my cup of tea. I kind of found it too sad. At
first I heard about it I thought it would be scary. Its pretty emotional. my
favorite character would have to be Simon. The reason he is my my favorite is
because he doesn't kill anyone. I find interesting how the tables turn in the
end. I like the parallels with the war going on the island and the war going on
in the rest of the world. The author could have made like a spin-off about the
war.

There
was once a goblin who messed with me. The goblin poked and bit my stomach. It
pored hot sauce and lemon juice in my eyes. It punched my head. It heated me
up. I told my mother about the goblin. I had to deal with the goblin for a
little while longer. I thought she would get a bat, but she got a pill. She
stuffed the pill down the goblin's throat. The goblin then died. The symbolism
for the goblin was being sick.

Where do you see
yourself in 20 years?
I see myself in a
job. I think I will be married. I think I will have a kid. I hope it won't be
as stressful as it is now. I hope I'm rich. I hope I'm happy. For some reason,
I hope I have a cowboy hat in the future. I hope if I have kids, they'll like me.
I hope I will be nice in the future. I
hope I will not be homeless.

Human
nature could be violence. Human nature leads to a lot of violence. In some ways, human nature is our undoing. In
early times, humans were savages. In some ways, we still are. Humanity has
poached species to death. Humanity has ruined the environment by pollution.
Humanity has caused whole world wars. It could also be trying to be a leader.
It is the reason why some people strive to be president.

Free writing
I remember the first
time I got my dog. She was very cute and she peed on my bed. She had a little
red bow on her collar. It was on Christmas morning. I kept asking for a dog and
so did my brother. Our previous dog only died only a few months before. Our new
dog was named Holly. She reminded me of our old dog named Pluto. She was one of
the best Christmas presents that I got. She chewed up my father's shoes.
reading w8
I find this similar
to The ECL with the wings. Its mood went over the place but it was still good.
It's a pretty good reading, and it feels adventurous. Like a few others, I
don't think you could make this into an entire book. Maybe It could, I'm just
not sure. I felt bad for the Angel, He seemed playful. I personally prefer
Harrison Bergeron because it stuck more to a few moods and wasn't all willy
nilly. I wonder if my brother ever read this. I wondered if this story and the
ECL have any relation.

100 word story
Once there was a
young, adventurous pirate captain named Schmidty Mcgee. He wanted to find a
horriying yet beautiful creature called the Golden Kraken, so he rounded up a
Hardy crew and went to go kill the wretched 14 million karat beast. When they finally got there there was nothing
but silence… silence… and more silence until… the gold medal monster finally
showed up. The crew tried as best they could, but there were no match for the
neferious, auriferous titan of the sea and almost all got slaughtered. Then
Schmidty Mcgee, with one last shot from the cannon, finally killed it. Schmidty
was proud but also disappointed of himself. because most of his crew died.

I found Harrison
Bergurion was sad but cool. It could have been like political but I can't tell.
It took place in a bad, evil future. The government tried to make everyone
equal. Harrison had the body of an adult, but the mind of a child.
It kind of had an
episode format even though there's only one story. I would have wished to see
what would happen after but I'm fine North were entered. I wonder what 2081
will really be like. Hazel sounded really dumb and George seemed to be a smart
guy. I felt bad for George always having his ears be tortured with loud noises.

personal narrative
My personal
narrative is going pretty good. I think it won't take long to fix it up. I feel
like it's going be the best thing gosh darn thing it can be by the end of all
this. I just need to pick out the best facts. -What I thought was going to be
pretty hard at first isn't turning out to be. I think I just need to take it in
steps.
But I've had enough time in class to make good
headway. My teacher has given me good notes to tell me what to improve upon. I
am pretty comfortable with how it's turned out so far, and I am proud of it. It
should be more focused on one subject, though. I'm going to try and work on
some more during tutorial. Writing isn't my greatest strength and I am glad to
be getting better.

Dear Eleven-Year-Old
Dear eleven-year-old:
You are just starting Middle School and next is High School. I know you think it is going to be tough, and
well, you are right. At least, some part
of it will suck. Still, I would do it again and again. Don’t be worried or scared. Life will get more complicated, but it will
also get better. Some friends will go away, some friends will stay, you will make new friends, and you will get to see your friends more.
Your body will change with all those hormone changes. You might lash out sometimes when you shouldn’t,
and you might have mood swings. You will
get pimples, yeah, that’s going to happen.
But you might sleep better, too.
Some things you love
doing, you might grow out of and find other things you like. Other things, you
might keep doing. Just
remember, don’t always look at a screen.
Interact with your family, if there is something is wrong, tell them
what is wrong. Just make your best
grades and have fun! Life is nice.
Signed,
A fourteen-year-old
Us and Them Reading Response
Do you ever feel lonely or maybe have too much screen
time? I know I sometimes do. This is partly why Us and Them hit home when I reread
it this weekend. But, not only could I
find parallels in my life, I could find parallels between the narrator’s family
and the Tomkeys. Both families lack something.
The narrator’s family lacks close
relationships with friends and each other as they mainly just watch tv,
although they do know of pop culture.
Whereas the Tomkeys are the opposite, they have a lot closer relationship, but they don’t have tv, so they don’t understand pop culture.
I could partly understand why the boy didn’t want to give up
his candy. He felt like he earned the
candy by fitting into pop culture and he didn’t want just to give it away. I do
feel bad for the kid, I mean his stomach always hurt after eating
chocolate! That is another thing I can
relate to, stomach aches after I eat.
But he gorged on chocolate so that
he didn’t have to share which is kind of selfish and greedy. Then his parents shushed him as they watched
tv and didn’t pay him any attention. He zoned out on tv, so he didn’t have to examine himself too deeply.
It is interesting to consider that the problems with screen
time and personal relationships have gone on so long. These problems will still probably go on for
years to come.

It's
been a while since the Louisiana flood happened; my house, unfortunately, got
flooded. I was thankfully back home by early spring last year, partly because a
bunch of my friends helped pitch in cleaning out my house. I am still grateful to them.
It's
interesting to look at in this video; it's sad but also cool to watch because
it gives me a different perspective a year later. It is hard to imagine it got
so bad that a guy could drive a boat through my neighborhood. I wonder if the
guy in the video is a close neighbor of mine.
I hope he is back in his house now. I also saw Episcopal; I can't
believe how good it's doing now.
It
just goes to show how much can happen in a year. I do hope everyone is back in
their houses after that. I hope the Houston flood wasn't as bad as the
Louisiana flood.
I
am rereading The Two Towers; it’s a long but enjoyable book. Gandalf comes back
to life, Mary and Pippin meet giant tree people. We have not seen Sam and Frodo
yet, but I think we will soon. All around the book can get confusing at times,
but I still like it. I have thought about restarting the book because I’ve
started and stopped a lot with it, but I'm just going to finish it.
I
think there are some minor difference between this and the movies. I think I
would say I would like the first book, but I haven't finished it, so I'm just
going to wait in till I finish, of course. I do miss Bilbo and all his friends,
I
like the trees; they seem to be a cool species. Their back story is a little
sad and odd, but it makes sense. It could be like a little message about the
environment, I guess.

We went on retreat
day in August. It was a sunny and hot
day, and mostly fun. I had a lot of fun
at the blind school. We took a bus there and the bus ride was even fun. I was at there with teachers from both
schools, the blind students, and my friends. Our freshman retreat day was on a
Friday.
When we were there,
we wore blind glasses. They were kind of
disorienting. That was a whole different experience. It was kind-of frightening
and exciting at the same time. It felt like it messed up my eyes, but I had a
lot of fun. Then we made a big mess when we decorated boxes.
It was a blast, and airconditioned, too! Our
box was a mess, but it was fun, and the teachers were alright with it. We
played War Ball when we got back to Episcopal.
It was a great day!

Have you ever read a
super long book that you just didn't like?
I have. My second reading book
was Cover Her Face by P.D. James. It was
a classic mystery and the start of the famous Adam Dalgliesh series. I found it
slightly boring. It was mainly about the murder of Sally Jupp, a maid at
Martingale, an estate in England. I liked
some of the backstories, like how Sally Jupp had an infant son.
I forgot the exact
reason why I chose this book; I think my mother gave it to me. My brother also
read the book, too and he was bored as well. The book just felt all-around
forgettable. I may try to read it again one day and see if it holds my interest
more. If you like mysteries and think
you might want to give it a try, I'd love to hear if you liked it. If you did, what did you like about it? You can find out more about the Adam
Dalgliesh series at https://www.goodreads.com/series/40353-adam-dalgliesh.

One of my reading books was The Great Gatsby. I personally think I was too young to get the full experience. My brother liked it. I got it because it was famous. I think they made a movie of it a few years ago.
I found the book confusing. I wasn’t always the fond of Gatsby himself. I may reread the book someday. The book was kind of sad. I liked some elements.
